What to Checkβ
β Verify:
- Did events actually happen as described?
- Are the times reasonable?
- Did security respond appropriately?
- Is anything missing?
If something looks wrong, you can still choose not to verify and contact your administrator.
Step 3: Make Your Decisionβ
Two Optionsβ
Option 1: Verify the Reportβ
If the report is accurate and security responded appropriately:
- Tap "Verify Report" (green button)
- Confirmation dialog appears:
Verify this security report?
You are confirming that security handled this
alert appropriately.
[Cancel] [Confirm] - Tap Confirm
- Status changes to "Resolved" (green header)
- Alert is now fully closed and documented
Option 2: Don't Verify Yetβ
If something doesn't look right:
- Tap "Back" or close the modal
- Contact your building administrator or security supervisor
- Discuss the report with them
- Decide together if it should be verified or escalated
Important: Once you verify, the incident is considered resolved. Don't verify if you have serious concerns about how security responded.
After Verificationβ
Alert Status: Resolvedβ
Once you verify:
- Status changes to "Resolved" (green header)
- β "View Report" button appears (available to any user)
- Complete incident record is saved
- Timeline is locked (no more changes)
- Your verification timestamp is recorded
Viewing the Resolved Reportβ
At any time after resolution, you (or anyone viewing the alert) can:
- Tap "View Report"
- See the same review screen in view-only mode
- Both submission and verification timestamps are displayed:
- Submitted at: [date/time]
- Verified at: [date/time]
What Not to Verifyβ
β Do NOT verify if:
- Security never actually responded
- The timeline seems completely inaccurate
- No one actually came to your unit
- Police were supposed to be called but weren't
- You feel unsafe or the situation is still ongoing
- Something else seems wrong or suspicious
In these cases:
- Tap Back without verifying
- Contact your building manager or security supervisor
- Explain your concerns
- Don't verify until issues are resolved
After Alert is Resolvedβ
Complete Record is Savedβ
Your resolved alert contains:
- Your original alert (date, motives, description)
- All security responses and events (timestamped)
- Security's resolution status (Resolved or False Alarm)
- Your verification timestamp
- Permanent documentation of the incident
Access Anytimeβ
- Go to Alerts β All Alerts or Resolved Alerts
- Find the alert by date, unit, or motive
- Tap to view the complete history
- Tap "View Report" to see the security summary
Understanding Resolution Statusesβ
Resolved (Green)β
Security determined the incident was real and handled appropriately:
- The threat has been addressed
- The situation is stabilized
- No further action is needed from you
Example: Security found the suspicious person, confirmed they didn't belong, and asked them to leave.
False Alarm (Orange)β
Security determined the alert was a misunderstanding or false alarm:
- It wasn't actually an emergency
- Often a reasonable mistake (maintenance worker looked suspicious, noise was from another unit)
- No threat was present
- Still helpful β you reported it responsibly
Example: You thought someone was breaking in, but it was the maintenance team entering with a key.
What to Do If Disagreedβ
If you disagree with the resolution status:
- Tap Back without verifying
- Contact your building administrator
- Explain why you think the status is wrong
- Don't verify until resolved with management
Safety Remindersβ
β Remember:
- Alerts are for emergencies and serious safety concerns
- Security's job is to respond and document
- Your verification confirms the process was completed appropriately
- You have the final say β don't verify unless you agree
β If unsafe:
- If you are currently in danger, call 911 immediately
- Don't wait for security to acknowledge your alert
- Life safety always comes first
Tips for Residentsβ
- Read the timeline carefully β understand what security did
- Check timestamps β do they make sense?
- Ask questions if anything is unclear (contact your supervisor)
- Only verify if satisfied β you have that power
- Keep records β you can view resolved alerts anytime
